About Me I love ren fair and dressing up and the people and everythign!!! My twin and I just got our rennie names last fair and we've been going for about 4 years now. I am Red and she is Rumy and together we are Redrum, ya know, Murder backwards... haha!

Music I honestly just love music!! I'm always looking for new cool bands! It's weird how I say I don't like one kind of music and then some band comes along with that style and they change my mind. I used to hate country, and then came the Dixie Chicks. I thought folk music was for old foggies, but then came my guys the Hudsons. What I listen to on a regular basis differs on my mood, but mostly it has lead female singers. That's because I love to sing along with my music. The styles I like are punk, christian rock, 40's, swing, salsa, blues, jazz, rock/punk, some country, folk, classical, and whatever is new and fun...
Movies Movies are great, yeah! I'm such an optimist though that I end up at least semi-liking almost every movie I see!! In fact, I hate seeing movies with those people who are wannabe critics! The styles of movies I like best though are epics, sci-fi, romantic comedy, and adventure. I honestly don't like sad movies much though, so that pretty much rules out dramas in general. However, there are some classic dramas that are worth watching and sometimes I'm in the mood for a good cry.
TV Before I moved to Houston I was attached to my television, but now it seems like I'm just way too busy. However, I do have TiVO now and so I record my shows and get to them when I can, which actually ends up being weeks later... maybe I should start recording less or something?? Well, the shows I watch are Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Heros, and other random ones.
Books Reading is a favorite past time of mine, though I usually only get time to when on airplanes and right before bed. I've been traveling alot lately, so I've read alot. Lots of christian fiction, some fantasy, and sci-fi and jane austin and so on. I'm listening to Al Gore's Age of Reason on cd now and would recommend it to EVERYONE!!!! My favorit authors are C.S. Lewis, Anne Rice, Orson Scott Card, Jane Austen, and Don Miller. Of course the Bible is a good read too and I usually read it once a day. I do also love The Classics, Greek Mythology, the Left Behind Series, and those which I have yet to discover.
Likes sewing, dancing, reading, playing piano, singing, hanging with friends and being silly
Dislikes Um, mean people? I guess i dislike the fact that there is evil in this world and it's hard to explain to people that this isn't the only life there is...
Hobbies What is not an interest of mine... I'd really like to try everything in life once!! I suppose if you know me though you'd say dancing, singing, sewing, planning activities, ren fests, traveling, and reading are some of the main ones. What I want to try soon though is surfing, skydiving, and scuba diving. There's something about living close to the water that makes me want to try more water sports. Shoot me an email if any of ya'll want to try these anytime soon with me!
Vices Spending too much, liking things that cost to much, liking too many tv programs, being sensitive sometimes
    Virtues Loyalty, honesty, and virtue
Heroes Heros are overrated since everyone is just human. The only one who lived who could really be considered a true hero in the movies and comic book way is Jesus. But as for exceptional humans who I respect, here's a list. My mom (not so cheesy if you knew her), Queen Elizabeth I (amazing woman!), Martin Luther King (I swear it's not just cause it sounds good!), Al Gore (ok, i love his book alot!!!), Mother Theresa (I can't imagine living the life she lived with such grace!), and a few others I can't think of now

    Monarch for all time....

Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 09:50 AM MST [Ren Fair related]

So I'm not a "Big" test taker.. but I liked this one.  I find it equally interesting that I ended up being the Monarch of yet another time frame... but now I'm a man?  Makes you wonder.. if there is such a thing as past lives, do you think Queen Elizabeth was King Arthur... and if I am Queen Elizabeth now, why am I not ruling somewhere??  haha.. just my own internal thoughts here on the subject.

Your result for The Camelot Test ...

    King Arthur

    King Arthur

You value honor and equality. You are courageous and logical. While you may be passionate at times, you rarely let your emotion affect your decisions. You are (according to legend) probably the greatest monarch of all time.

    Changes are good!

So probably no one knows this on here, but my job is not easy and is not really my forte... My degree is aerospace engineering and that's the line of work I will hopefully stay in, but this particular job is no longer right for me.  It all came to a head with a "sit down" meeting with my bosses the DAY I came back from a 10 day vacation to Panama (read previous blog for info on that trip).  After this meeting I prayed alot, cried alot, and was generally extremely bummed...  Then I realized God was wanting me to leave this position, and as soon as I made that decision, it felt like this HUGE weight had been lifted from my shoulders.  I also felt I needed to tell my management because I am lead on lots of projects and we needed to start planning to hand those over to others.  So that started a clock on July 14th counting down to when I'd leave.  I was able to make them see that leaving in 2 weeks would not even closely be possible due to all my tasks!!  So my end date is August 15th, which is actually 5 weeks from the day I decided I needed to leave.

Since then, I have been applying all over the place and had 1 interview and offer, but I'm not interested in it.  This week I have 3 interviews and 2 of those jobs I think I'd love.. and they invovled travel which i love!

Another change in my life is that my girlfriend who I get to fly almost for free with is leaving her job at the end of September... so I have to get in all my fun flying prior to then!!  Wish me luck there...

And yet another change is that I think it's time to leave my church.  I'm currently church shopping, but I have found an amazing singles group at a church near my house!!  The fellowship and worship there is so wonderful and I really love the group!

This week has been extra fun because we had a supposed Hurricane coming to wipe us out... so NASA gave us a day and half of leave, kind of like a snow day really.  It was awesome, especially since Tropical storm Edouard basically passed us by with very little rain and never became a Hurricane even!  So the past 2 days, I've gotten in all sorts of crazy amounts of sewing.  I'd taken a summer "break" from sewing since I'd been doing so much of it in the fall and spring of this year.  I picked up last week because I'm working on my girlfriends wedding dress and needed to get it in a state for her to try on when she comes to town this weekend.  So in the past week and 2 days I've done the following:

For the wedding dress: I made a satin trained skirt, made a chiffon under dress, did finishing work on a sating bodice.

For my stuff: I made a black velvet hoop skirt, a set of tight balck velvet sleeves with lots of pearling, finished beading my gold underskirt on both the front and back side, made a new white and black purse with lots of beading, made gold silk bloomers for my fairy costume, redid the back of a bodice to add more eyelets and a higher privacy panel, and reglued the eyes on my zebellini's.

So from my "to do" sewing list, I only have about 3 real needs left to finish before fall and a few ones I could do if I have time and effort!!!  Yeah for being productive and having the desire and time to do stuff again!!!

Pray for my interviews and my new job... I hope to have something set in stone by end of this week early next week.

Sounds like you are have a summer fraught with choices. I am sure you will be guided to the right profession and church. Change, while never effortless, is a indispensable part of life. Sometimes the change is our choice and other times the transformation is thrust upon us whether we wish for the change or not. I wish you well.

I hope to be seeing you at T.R.F.
