Saturday was a lovely day for QE1 and the Countess. We began by visiting a few shops of friends and stopping to say "good day" to a few others.
Then we went to "Poetic Portraits" for a sitting for our new oil painting we have commissioned for over the fireplace. We had such a lovely time with the painters there. We are going to have the setting in a rose garden with the view of either Hampton Court or Windsor Castle in the background. I am beyond excited about it. The painter, Christine, will also be painting this portrait out in the open in front of her shop all during TRF this season. Stop by and take a look of the work in progress, I know I will be!!
We finally found Lis and Charles later that day, and Rachel went off to help him carry his pirate Booty to the tents while Lis and I sat and chatted and critiqued gowns and outfits.
The Countess came back steering her "own" ship, which only she could see apparently... I believe it was the affect of too much Loki! We ended the day with fireworks and a few laughs at the Green Flame camp with free alcohol.
The next day started with the chainmail show where many of our friends performed. Then we took a few pirate pics outside the shop. Red and Rumy had to bring out their new 18th century repica french guns we bought at Versailles. We actually had them out most of the day, pointing them at unsuspecting mundanes and their kiddies....
We had a few friends from Austin in tow this day as well. Melanie and Scott, newly engaged and shopping for wedding ideas.... ALL DAY!!
We did get to see many shows though like Tartanic, Wine and Alchemy, The Other Brothers, chainmail show, and Sound and Fury. After all this walking and all these shows and shopping, Red had to take a quick nap in the hammock....
The weekend was full of fun and laughter with good friends and fun outfits! We look forward now to next weekend where the fairies Red Bud and Oops will make their first appearance at TRF!!!!
So I'm not a "Big" test taker.. but I liked this one. I find it equally interesting that I ended up being the Monarch of yet another time frame... but now I'm a man? Makes you wonder.. if there is such a thing as past lives, do you think Queen Elizabeth was King Arthur... and if I am Queen Elizabeth now, why am I not ruling somewhere?? haha.. just my own internal thoughts here on the subject.
Your result for The Camelot Test ...
King Arthur
You value honor and equality. You are courageous and logical. While you may be passionate at times, you rarely let your emotion affect your decisions. You are (according to legend) probably the greatest monarch of all time.
This past weekend, King Henry VIII of Scarborough ren fair invited me to take some family portraits with him and his Queen Anne Boleyn.
We took some extended family pictures first with Henry's sister Queen Margaret of Scotland as well. Then the King offered me a seat on my soon-to-be-thrown. We then discussed how "perfect" I looked on the thrown and how great "Queen Elizabeth of England" sounded. My dear mother (who I hardly remember), kept saying how beautiful her little baby had become....
I think almost everyone around at this time got some good pics of us all together... So there should be more out of the famouse different Photographers websites soon.
I truely cherished this time and the special attention the King and Queen gave me. I can't imagine a more royal and wonderful couple!!!! I will remember this always!
So this past weekend I was able to final court dance. This might be shocking to some, but this was actually my first time court dancing at fair!!! I have had it on my plan to go dancing SOOO many times I lost count, but for one reason or another it never happened. Considering that I absolutely love dancing of all kinds, this is even more crazy. Anyhow, I got to dance this past weekend at Scarby. First I took the class and then I danced with the court. I danced the first two dances and then none of the ones after that due to having to find lost friends yet again (this was the theme of the whole weekend!!)
My conclusion, I love love love court dancing, but I really did think I would. Now, I need to go learn some more dances somewehre... Does anyone know a good place to learn in Houston?
Here are some pics of me dancing taken by my good friend Kristi who took professional photography classes, which should be obvious by the quality!!
I love that first one, if you look close you can see it's a true action shot with my girdle belt flying thru the air!!!
I'm going back to scarby 2 more times, second weekend in May and last weekend, and I plan to attend the court dances all of those days... which means I'll probably end up making it to half of them... haha!!! But look for me there if you can't find me the rest of the day.
I FINALLY got to wear all my new QE1 garb to Fourwinds this past weekend. It was an absolutely fabulous time!!!!! I think that's the best kept secret little faire in Texas.... Rachel got to wear her new Black dress and her redone and rebeaded Blue/green dress. I got to wear my new White Queen dress and also my redone Red and Gold dress. I bought the new neck ruff and wrist ruffs as well, so almost everything I wore all weekend was either new or newly redone!!!! We got a million comments and compliments and were treated as visiting royalty!!!!
My version of QE1 in her favorite color WHITE My twin sister is on the right in the photo and that is her brand new Elizabethan also made by me. It was for her to play Bess of hardwick at faire.
My favorite colors together, and also royal colors, "Red and Gold"
The Queen of Fourwinds allowed me to join in the parade, sit with her during the joust, and leave the joust in the carriage with her!!! I made my 3 QE1 dresses with removeable sleeves and so they are fairly interchangeable as well. For instance, my mom was wearing the gold underskirt that goes with this dress this day, so I wore the white beaded underskirt instead and it looks grand as well.
This is my 3rd QE1 dress and my mom wearing it. As you can see, the red diamond pattern is the same as in the sleeves and side of the bodice with the "Red and Gold" outfit. The underskirt of white is also the same material as the overskirt of the "White" outfit.
